After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Coxsackie-Athens, Watervliet was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Waterford-Halfmoon Fordians.
Alexis McCarthy made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
