Baseball Recap: Daniel Boone Has No Trouble Against Smoky Mountain

Daniel Boone got themselves on the board against Smoky Mountain on Friday, but Smoky Mountain never followed suit. They blew past the Mustangs 18-0. Considering the Trailblazers have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Daniel Boone let T J Leonard and Jackson McCurry run wild. Leonard went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while McCurry went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave McCurry a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tanner Orth, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Daniel Boone kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.

Daniel Boone has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Smoky Mountain, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8.

Daniel Boone wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-3 victory against Oak Ridge on the 19th. As for Smoky Mountain, they will take on East Henderson at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
