Cosby has gone 7-2 against Powhatan recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Titans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Cosby and L.C. Bird, and Cosby kept the tradition alive. The Titans' pitchers stepped up to hand the Skyhawks a 16-0 shutout on Tuesday. That looming 16-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Titans yet this season.
Lex Throckmorton made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Throckmorton was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Cosby got a massive performance out of Jill Bossler, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Aislin Bossler, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one double.
Powhatan came out on top against Monacan on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Indians put the hurt on the Chiefs with a sharp 9-1 victory. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Chiefs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Brooklyn Narbut spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aaliyah Myers, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Mazie Harmon, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Powhatan's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Cosby, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Cosby took their victory against Powhatan in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 9-2 score. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
