South Lake has gone 9-1 against Leesburg recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The South Lake Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Leesburg Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. South Lake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.

It was a Battle of the Birds when South Lake faced off against Horizon on Thursday. South Lake took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Horizon. The loss was the Eagles' first of the season.

South Lake got a good showing from L Edwards, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.

At the plate, South Lake saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was J Brown, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. V Shields also deserves some recognition as he stolen his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Leesburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of First Academy. That's two games in a row now that the Yellow Jackets have lost by exactly three runs.

Leesburg's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for South Lake, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

South Lake's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. South Lake has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Leesburg, though, as they've been averaging only 0.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will South Lake continue to outrun the ball?

South Lake skirted past Leesburg 5-3 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Will South Lake repeat their success, or does Leesburg have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
