Achievement First is 1-9 against Academy of Science and Innovation since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Achievement First will head out on the road to challenge the Academy of Science and Innovation Ravens at 7:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Achievement First has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Academy of Science and Innovation will arrive with eight straight victories.
On Wednesday, Achievement First came up short against Prince RVT and fell 59-52.
In what's become a running theme this season, Academy of Science and Innovation gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They blew past Capital Prep 81-47 at home. Given Academy of Science and Innovation's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Capital Prep is ranked 138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jamal Kulaib was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with seven steals and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Mohammad Kulaib, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Achievement First dropped their record down to 1-13 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points per game. As for Academy of Science and Innovation, their win bumped their record up to 11-1.
Achievement First might still be hurting after the 60-40 loss they got from Academy of Science and Innovation in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Achievement First avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
