1A District 8 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Crescent City extended the longest winning streak in 1A District 8 this week by beating Taylor, 41-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Wildwood led the league in scoring this week after putting up 52 points on The Villages Charter. Kendrick Brown ran for 436 yards in the win.
The Wildcats' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Donte Johnson threw for 49 yards and Taylor Shaw had 31 yards receiving. Harding Meacham helped Wildwood's passing attack out by catching one ball for 18 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Chase Kelly of the Buffalo is the league leader in passing yards this season with 315. He has also thrown one touchdown. On the ground, Wildwood's Brown has rushed for 1609 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is James (J.T.) Hearn. The Taylor star has 13 catches for 149 yards.
Crescent City made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,839 from 9,174. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 41-0 victory over the Wildcats last week.
