The First Academy Lions will head out on the road to challenge the CHESS Academy Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully First Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
Last Friday, First Academy was the victim of a tough 63-42 loss at the hands of Community Christian Academy.
Despite the loss, First Academy had strong showings from Jakson Bounds, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Logan James, who scored nine points along with 15 rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Bounds scored 15 or more points.
Even though they lost, First Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, CHESS Academy put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season last Thursday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 72-45 win over St. Teresa's Catholic. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory CHESS Academy has posted since November 17, 2023.
First Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for CHESS Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
