The Northeastern Knights will challenge the Union City Indians at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northeastern is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, Northeastern was able to grind out a solid victory over Cowan, taking the game 6-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.
The team relied heavily on Logan White, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Waters, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Union City). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 win over South Adams on Monday. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Starfires recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Jayson Connor was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
Northeastern's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Union City, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Union City's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Northeastern hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .312. It's a different story for Union City, though, as they've only averaged .247. Will they be able to contain Northeastern's hitters?
Northeastern couldn't quite finish off Union City in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 2-0. Will the Knights have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
