The Verdigris Cardinals will be playing at home against the Dewey Bulldoggers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dewey took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Verdigris, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Verdigris strolled past Jay with points to spare, taking the game 32-14.
Verdigris got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyler Willis out in front who picked up 108 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Austin Boren, who threw for 191 yards and four touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Verdigris' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Will Rogers and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Dewey's recent rough patch got a bit rougher two weeks ago after their sixth straight loss. They took a hard 35-16 fall against Inola.
Verdigris' win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Dewey, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-6.
Everything came up roses for Verdigris against Dewey when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 74-6 win. Will Verdigris repeat their success, or does Dewey have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
