The St. Charles Bulldogs will square off against the Carson City-Crystal Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, St. Charles turned things around against Montabella last Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 14-1 win. The matchup marked the Bulldogs' most dominant victory of the season.
Ella Mose made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Mose was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Kylie Fiting was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Abrielle Dinninger was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
St. Charles always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Montabella only posted an OBP of .286.
Meanwhile, Carson City-Crystal waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Sharks 9-7.
Haven Reeder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
Carson City-Crystal pushed their record up to 7-14 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for St. Charles, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 3-12.
St. Charles couldn't quite finish off Carson City-Crystal when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 8-6. Will the Bulldogs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
