Academy of Science and Innovation has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 22 points or more this season. They ended the year with a bang, routing Terryville 49-27. Given Academy of Science and Innovation's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Terryville is ranked 131st), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Academy of Science and Innovation found their leader in underclassman Maiara Rodriguez, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 steals. The contest was Rodriguez's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Symber Ortiz-Sutton, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Plainville scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past Bloomfield 49-24. The win was just what Plainville needed coming off of a 51-18 defeat in their prior match.
Academy of Science and Innovation's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Plainville, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
