In what's become a running theme this season, the Lyman Memorial Bulldogs gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Westbrook as Lyman Memorial made off with a 49-26 victory. The victory was just what Lyman Memorial needed coming off of a 71-36 defeat in their prior game.
Lyman Memorial was led to victory by Jenny Lopez and Makayla Piaseczny. Lopez almost dropped a triple-double on nine points, ten rebounds, and ten assists, while Piaseczny scored 20 points along with two steals and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Piaseczny scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Phoebe Carpenter, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Lyman Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Westbrook, they dropped their record down to 3-14 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home.
Lyman Memorial will head out on the road to challenge Putnam at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Lyman Memorial is facing Putnam at the right time seeing as Putnam is stuck on a 11-game losing streak. As for Westbrook, they will be playing at home against Portland at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Connecticut (Westbrook is ranked 152nd, while Portland is ranked 169th).
