The Skyline Eagles lost against the Brighton Bengals back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Skyline ended up on the wrong side of a rough 60-37 walloping at the hands of Brighton. While losing is never fun, Skyline can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while Brighton is ranked 24th).
Lauren Johnson and Cami Groberg certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Johnson scored 14 points, while Groberg scored 11 points along with nine rebounds. The matchup was Groberg's third in a row with at least ten points.
Skyline has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Brighton, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-3.
Skyline will look to defend their home court on Friday against Alta at 7:00 p.m. Alta will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Brighton, they will head out on the road to face off against Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Highland is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
