This season hasn't been kind to the Capital Golden Eagles, who are still winless after their sixth contest. Their tough 62-40 defeat to Eagle on Saturday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Capital can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Eagle is ranked 27th).
Leading Eagle to victory were Bella Thompson and Paige Cofer. Thompson scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Cofer scored 26 points along with three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Cofer has scored at least 25% of Eagle's points. Another player making a difference was Porter Wood, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Capital bumped their record down to 0-6 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Eagle, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season.
Capital will head out on the road to face off against Kuna at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Kuna is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. Eagle will be home for the holidays to greet Centennial at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
