GRENADA, Miss. -
Grenada (Miss.) captured the lead in the fourth quarter and held on for a 12-7 victory over
Olive Branch (Miss.) on Saturday. The Chargers took the lead for good when
Nathan Evans ran for a touchdown.
After nabbing the lead on a
Mario Nolan-Dillard touchdown pass to
Warren DeWalt, the Conquistadors went into halftime with a 7-0 lead. The Chargers took the lead for good with a Evans touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring zero points in the third, Grenada still trailed by seven points going into the fourth quarter. But 12 points in the fourth helped GHS pull out the victory.
Olive Branch's only touchdown came on a pass from Nolan-Dillard to DeWalt in the first quarter.
The Chargers came into the game allowing 14.6 points per game. The seven points that Olive Branch ended with were well below its average of 31.9 coming into the game.
The loss comes after Olive Branch defeated Horn Lake 37-14 last week. With the win Grenada extended its winning streak to three games.
In a 6A Region 1 game next week Grenada (8-1) takes on South Panola, and Olive Branch (6-4) will go up against Hernando also in a 6A Region 1 game.
