The Bountiful RedHawks will face off against the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bountiful is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
Bountiful is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over Hunter.
Ella Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isabeau Hoff, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. McKinley Duryea was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Bountiful was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hunter only posted a batting average of .174.
Meanwhile, Maple Mountain posted their closest victory since March 7th on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Cyprus 12-11. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Eagles.
Kyla Donegan was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was McClain Carter, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Bountiful's win bumped their record up to 26-4. As for Maple Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 19-8.
Maple Mountain's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bountiful has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Maple Mountain, though, as they've been averaging 8.7 hits. Given Bountiful's sizable advantage in that area, the Golden Eagles will need to find a way to close that gap.
Bountiful beat Maple Mountain 9-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2019. The rematch might be a little tougher for the RedHawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
