The Wetumka Chieftains will face off against the Indianola Warriors at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Wetumka will be strutting in after a victory while Indianola will be coming in after a loss.
On Tuesday, Wetumka got the win against Wilson-Henryetta by a conclusive 9-1.

Pat Hebert
Pat Hebert looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He is becoming a predictor of Wetumka's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 2-8 when he doesn't).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chaydan Flanagan, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. He has become a key player for Wetumka: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Dwayne Lowe, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Wetumka was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Indianola lost 17-3 to Kiowa last Monday.
Ford Peterson was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1. Another player making a difference was Joshua Klink, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.
Wetumka's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Indianola, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-9.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Wetumka has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .457. However, it's not like Indianola struggles in that department as they've averaged .484. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wetumka skirted past Indianola 10-9 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Chieftains have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
