The biggest upset of the week belonged to Overhills, who took down 75th ranked Grays Creek, 27-20.
The Jaguars extended the longest winning streak in 3A Cape Fear Valley this week by beating the Bears, 27-20. The victory was the fourth in a row for Overhills.
Douglas Byrd's dynamic duo of Breon Davis and Garry Lewis proved tough for Union Pines to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Davis threw for 203 yards and three touchdowns and Lewis had 101 yards receiving. Jose Sanchez helped Douglas Byrd's passing attack out by catching three balls for 80 yards.
Ken McDowell was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 190 yards on 20 carries as Grays Creek topped the Vikings. Teammate Dion Rackley added to the ground attack by rushing for 74 yards.
Westover's Henry Howard III and Kendall Lindsey have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Howard III has thrown for 1434 yards this season, while Lindsey, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 32 catches for 517 yards. David Lovette's team's McDowell leads the league in rushing yards with 2393.
Tim Karrs' team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,935 from 4,454. The improvement came about via a 27-20 victory over the Bears last week.
