The Heritage Christian Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Poetry Community Christian Pioneer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Heritage Christian suffered their biggest loss since November 20, 2023 last Friday. They suffered a rough 62-36 loss at the hands of First Baptist. While losing is never fun, Heritage Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1037th, while First Baptist is ranked 428th).
Despite their loss, Heritage Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Maggy Mcswain, who scored seven points along with seven steals, was perhaps the best of all. Mcswain is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Deanna Montgomery, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Poetry Community Christian, who are still winless after their eighth contest. They had to suffer through a rough 69-3 loss at the hands of First Baptist. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Poetry Community Christian has scored all season.
Heritage Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Poetry Community Christian, they bumped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Heritage Christian might still be hurting after the 42-16 defeat they got from Poetry Community Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Heritage Christian, Sarita Dreelan (who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
