Basketball Recap: Averill Park Has No Trouble Against Niskayuna

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Averill Park on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 53-31 margin over the Niskayuna Silver Warriors. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 22 points or more this season.

Despite the loss, Niskayuna saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Skye Linyear posted 12 points and seven boards. Linyear is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played.

Averill Park has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Niskayuna, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Averill Park will venture away from home to square off against Colonie Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Colonie Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Averill Park likes a good challenge. As for Niskayuna, they are taking a road trip to challenge Albany at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
