The Edgewood Red Wolves stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They put the hurt on Melbourne with a sharp 52-32 win. Winning may never get old, but Edgewood sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Edgewood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Kelleher, who scored 15 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Alaina Preble, who scored 11 points along with seven steals.
Addyson Turba and Quinteria Coger certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Turba scored eight points along with four steals, while Coger scored ten points. Coger is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight.
Melbourne struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Edgewood racked up 15 assists.
Edgewood's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-5. As for Melbourne, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-14.
Edgewood and Odyssey Charter School will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Odyssey Charter School will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 509th, while Edgewood is ranked 253rd). As for Melbourne, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Sebastian River at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Sebastian River focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Wednesday.
