Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Promise Prepatory Academy

Promise Prepatory Academy waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 45-33 win over the Sugar Hill Christian Academy Stallions. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Stallions are ranked 481st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Sugar Hill Christian Academy lost, don't look at Nolan Swift. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 9 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds. Swift's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Tyler Veugeler was another key player, putting up eight points and eight rebounds.

Promise Prepatory Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.7 points per game. As for Sugar Hill Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Promise Prepatory Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Crossroads Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025. After both having extra time off, Sugar Hill Christian Academy and Kings Way Christian School will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 8:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Sugar Hill Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.9 points per game this season.
