The Coconino Panthers pushed their score all the way to 63 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Prescott 67-63. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (55), Coconino still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Coconino saw an underclassman step up: Oryon Huayhualla scored 23 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Huayhualla has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Minter, who scored 15 points.
It was another big night for Uriah Tenette, who scored 39 points along with five assists and three steals for Prescott. Tenette is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 21 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Zane Gaul, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds.
Coconino's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Prescott, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 17-3.
Coconino will be playing in front of their home fans against the Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mohave has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 20. As for Prescott, they will head out on the road to challenge the Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bradshaw Mountain will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Badgers are ranked 32nd).
