After flying high against the Ogden Tigers last Thursday, the Union Cougars came back down to earth. Union fell just short of South Summit by a score of 58-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Emma Broadbent continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for South Summit, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 23 rebounds. Broadbent is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taya Rose, who scored four points along with three steals.
Union's defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-14. As for South Summit, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union will take on Grantsville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grantsville is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games. As for South Summit, they will head out on the road to take on Ben Lomond at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Ben Lomond focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 last Thursday.
