Silver Stage had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped down to 0-2 to make it 12. They came up short against the Battle Mountain Longhorns, falling 18-8. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Longhorns this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-2 on Friday.
Landen Wolf was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Blayne Baratti Butler was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
As for Battle Mountain, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-4. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Battle Mountain's side, Damian Solis made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Solis was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with five runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those five runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Angel Guadaramma, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those RBI were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Will Foster, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Silver Stage beat Battle Mountain by a score of 10-5 later that day.
