Somerset is 8-1 against Floresville since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Somerset Bulldogs will be home for the holidays to greet the Floresville Tigers at 7:45 p.m. Somerset will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1149th, while Floresville is ranked 438th).
Last Tuesday, Somerset lost to Southwest on the road by a decisive 37-20 margin.
Meanwhile, Floresville had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They strolled past Gregory-Portland with points to spare, taking the game 51-37.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Floresville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amariah Ruiz, who scored 11 points along with six steals. Ruiz continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie Huron, who scored 14 points.
Somerset's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Floresville, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.
Everything went Somerset's way against Floresville in their previous matchup back in January as Somerset made off with a 59-36 victory. Does Somerset have another victory up their sleeve, or will Floresville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
