Tri-County is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Carroll is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Tri-County Cavaliers will take on the Carroll Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Tri-County on the road against North Newton as the team secured a 56-20 victory.
Tri-County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jonathan Pearson, who rushed for 123 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries. Pearson is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Gabe Sanders, who rushed for 61 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries.
Tri-County's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB nine times. The heavy lifting was done by Sanders and Kevin Martinez who racked up nine sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Carroll got themselves on the board against Sheridan on Friday, but Sheridan never followed suit. They were the clear victor by a 24-0 margin over the Blackhawks.
Their wins bumped Tri-County to 5-3 and Carroll to 9-0.
Tri-County was taken down by Carroll 51-0 when the teams last played back in August of 2022. Will Tri-County have more luck at home instead of on the road?
