The Washington County Panthers stacked a fifth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Gates County 75-38 on the road. Washington County's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Brandon Carter Jr. continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a triple-double on 15 points, 11 rebounds, and ten assists. Carter Jr. is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Amari Chesson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Washington County's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Gates County, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Washington County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Great Bridge at 1:30 p.m. on January 15th. Great Bridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 319th in Virginia, while Washington County is ranked 93rd in North Carolina). As for Gates County, they will head out on the road to challenge Perquimans at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Perquimans and Gates County are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
