It was a good run, but the Eastside Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Thursday. They were the victim of a tough 63-38 defeat at the hands of Dacula. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Eastside came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked tenth in South Carolina, while Dacula is ranked 70th in Georgia).
Eastside lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Laila Harvey, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Kristen Mcbride, who scored five points along with seven rebounds.
Eastside's defeat dropped their record down to 7-1. As for Dacula, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
Eastside won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Rogers Heritage at 8:30 a.m. on December 29th. Rogers Heritage is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. Dacula and Bishop Kenny will face off at 4:00 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bishop Kenny is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
