The Chincoteague Ponies pushed their score all the way to 70 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 82-70 to Northampton. Chincoteague has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Ponies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jake Harper, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Harper pulled down eight or more rebounds. Jordan Harper was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Northampton had a senior duo take command as Quayshawn Washington shot 4-for-7 from long range and dropped a triple-double on 25 points, 11 assists, and ten steals and Ronyell Coston scored 32 points. Washington is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tywon Sebastian, who scored 11 points.
Chincoteague's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Northampton, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chincoteague will take on Arcadia at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northampton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Nandua at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
