2A/1A Conference 16 recap September 4, 2013
Degner Axelberg and Anthony Davis provided fans with a highlight when they connected against West Bladen. The connection went for 82 yards, the longest such play in 2A/1A Conference 16 this season.
Whiteville scaled the state rankings by moving to 232 from 277 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Wolfpack climbed the ranks as a result of defeating East Bladen 17-8.
West Columbus's dynamic duo of Axelberg and Davis proved to be unstoppable against the Knights, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Axelberg threw for 125 yards and 2 touchdowns and Davis had 87 yards receiving. Rostin Bromell helped West Columbus' passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 27 yards.
The Vikings' dynamic duo of Axelberg and Davis proved tough for West Bladen to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Malik Livingston was the best running back in the league this week. In 15 carries, he ran for 84 yards as St. Pauls lost to Russell Dove's team. Daymien McMillan also contributed to the rushing game with 72 yards on the ground.
Davis was the best wideout in 2A/1A Conference 16 this week as Mark Little's team fell to the Knights.
Jacob Lowder was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Bulldogs topped South Brunswick. The 5-foot-9 junior.
Livingston was a passing and rushing force as St. Pauls topped the Cougars.
Axelberg put up the best numbers in passing as the Vikings lost to West Bladen.
West Columbus' Axelberg and Davis have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Axelberg has thrown for 125 yards this season, while Davis has 2 catches for 87 yards. Livingston from Trey Sasser's team leads the league in rushing with 162 yards.
Fairmont took down Fayetteville Christian 46-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
