North East Carolina Prep's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 73-44 defeat at the hands of Howard. The result was an unpleasant reminder to North East Carolina Prep of the 72-35 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.
Despite the defeat, North East Carolina Prep had strong showings from CHADWICK BARNES, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds, and KHALIL SMITH, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. BARNES is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least ten every time he's taken the court this season.
North East Carolina Prep's loss was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Howard, their victory bumped their record up to 13-5.
North East Carolina Prep will be playing at home against Martin County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Martin County has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 560 points over their last eight matches. Howard does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
