The Rauner Wildcats couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 63-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Golder on Wednesday. Rauner lost against Golder in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 49-39 score last time.
Despite the loss, Rauner still got an impressive performance from Yahweh Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. Roman Willis was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Rauner's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Golder, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rauner will square off against Baker at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Golder is on the road again on Friday and play against Westinghouse at 5:30 p.m. on December 1st. Westinghouse presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Golder in Illinois (Westinghouse is ranked 68th, while Golder is ranked 427th).
