The Wheatland-Chili Wildcats had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They strolled past Medina with points to spare, taking the game 60-44. Given Wheatland-Chili's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Mustangs are ranked 624th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leighton Williams was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points. Another player making a difference was Jaden Schwenebraten, who scored ten points.
Medina lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Christian Moss, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Pitts, who scored 11 points.
Wheatland-Chili's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Medina, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wheatland-Chili will take on the Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Medina, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Newfane has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 556 points over their last eight games.
