The Oakleaf Knights will challenge the Baldwin Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Baldwin took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Oakleaf, who comes in off a win.
Oakleaf is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They had just enough and edged out Fleming Island 9-8. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now won three in a row.
Abrien Paseiro made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Oakleaf is 3-1 when Paseiro allowsthree or fewer hits, but 3-6 otherwise. Paseiro was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on JP Espinosa, who scored two runs and stole Five bases. while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Brown, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Baldwin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 9-1 to Mandarin.
Baldwin saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jesse Macik, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Oakleaf's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Baldwin, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
Oakleaf's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. Oakleaf has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Baldwin, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Oakleaf continue to outrun the ball?
Oakleaf was able to grind out a solid win over Baldwin when the teams last played back in April of 2023, winning 6-1. Does Oakleaf have another victory up their sleeve, or will Baldwin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
