The Limon Badgers will venture away from home to take on the Swink Lions at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Limon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Limon earned a 10-6 win over Simla. The Badgers haven't had any issues with the Cubs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Logan Haflich was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Braxten Churchwell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Swink never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Calhan last Saturday. They never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 19-0 win. That 19 run margin sets a new team best for the Lions this season.
Nick Paolucci made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Mills, who fired off two home runs, four stolen bases, and seven RBI while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Nate Cabrera was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Swink always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calhan only posted an OBP of .133.
Swink's record is now 4-1. As for Limon, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Limon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Swink struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Limon came up short against Swink in their previous meeting back in May of 2018, falling 3-0. Can Limon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
