The Frenchtown Broncs will head out to face off against the Timberlake Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Frenchtown is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Frenchtown came out on top against Florence-Carlton on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Broncs took their game against the Falcons 9-4.
Hendrix Waln looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
At the plate, Jordan Warner was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Cash Mickey also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Timberlake got the win against Reardan on Thursday by a conclusive 22-9. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by nine runs or more this season.
Tanner Van Tassel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, Ryker Brennan was a standout: he got on base in four of his six plate appearances with five stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Timberlake's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Eric Wylie was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two RBI, and one double.
Timberlake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Frenchtown's record is now 6-0. As for Timberlake, their record now sits at 8-6.
Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Frenchtown has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .475. However, it's not like Timberlake struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Frenchtown might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Timberlake when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Broncs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
