Baseball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Elida's Fifth in Last Six Outings

Elida barely beat Memorial the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs never let the Roughriders get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Thursday. The Bulldogs not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23rd (when they won 12-2).

The team relied heavily on Gavin Tickle, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Marc Troyer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Elida was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .542. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Elida is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Memorial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elida will square off against Lincolnview at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Memorial, they will take on Bath at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
