Red Rock hasn't had much luck against Madison Highland Prep recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Madison Highland Prep). Everything went their way against Arete Prep on Friday as they made off with a 20-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Heat, who have now won six contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Anthony Kritikos made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Madison Highland Prep: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-11 otherwise.
In other batting news, Madison Highland Prep got a massive performance out of Raul Sotelo Baltazar, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Sotelo Baltazar is becoming a predictor of the Heat's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 3-11 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Rhett Clemens, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Madison Highland Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .903. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win made it two in a row for Madison Highland Prep and bumps their season record up to 6-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Red Rock, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-14-1.
Red Rock might still be hurting after the 15-3 loss they got from Madison Highland Prep when the teams last played on April 3rd. Can the Scorpions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
