Palmyra-Macedon is 2-8 against Wayne since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Red Raiders will look to defend their home field against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
Palmyra-Macedon is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Midlakes on Thursday as they made off with a 21-1 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Red Raiders with their most commanding win of the season.
Briana VanHaneghan made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. VanHaneghan was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kerrigan Connolly was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with seven stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those seven stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elianna Rouland, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one double.
Palmyra-Macedon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .674. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Wayne entered their tilt with Mynderse Academy on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Blue Devils 11-5. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.
Reese Sinclair spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits.
At the plate, Myia Eskander was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Gianna DePaul was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Palmyra-Macedon's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Wayne, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.
Wayne's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Palmyra-Macedon has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Wayne, though, as they've been averaging 9.8 hits. Given Palmyra-Macedon's sizable advantage in that area, the Eagles will need to find a way to close that gap.
Palmyra-Macedon was able to grind out a solid win over Wayne when the teams last played last Thursday, winning 10-7. Will the Red Raiders repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
