Little Cypress-Mauriceville is a perfect 3-0 against Livingston since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Bears will be playing at home against the Lions at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Little Cypress-Mauriceville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They blew past Hudson 11-2. The win was nothing new for the Bears as they're now sitting on 16 straight.
Tessa Erickson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Stephenson, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lexis Moss, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Little Cypress-Mauriceville lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hudson only launched one home run.
Meanwhile, Livingston never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on Northside with a sharp 16-0 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Northside's batters probably weren't too happy with Brooke Anderson, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (she gave up a single walk).
On the hitting side, Shelby Dickerson was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Brianna Nelson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Little Cypress-Mauriceville's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 29-4-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Livingston, their win bumped their record up to 25-7.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Little Cypress-Mauriceville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .402. However, it's not like Livingston struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Little Cypress-Mauriceville came out on top in a nail-biter against Livingston in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
