The Bonneville Lakers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their ninth straight loss. They fell 64-52 to Cyprus. Bonneville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Cyprus apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2019.
Sidnee Geerdes and Whitni Johnson certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Geerdes dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Johnson scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Moss, who scored six points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Bonneville has not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Cyprus, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-7.
Bonneville will head out on the road to take on Northridge at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Northridge is on a three-game streak of home losses, Bonneville a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Cyprus won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Kearns at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully Kearns focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Friday.
