The Williston Red Devils will challenge the Bell Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Thursday, Williston made easy work of Seven Rivers Christian and carried off a 12-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Devils.
Brody Fessenden looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Williston let Colby Jansen and Kenan Bellamy run wild. Jansen got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Bellamy went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave Bellamy a new career-high. Braige Schneider was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Bell came out on top against First Christian on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 10-2 victory.
Dean Glass was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. He has become a key player for Bell: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of RJ Leffler, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Bell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Williston's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Bell, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Williston has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bell struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Williston got the 'W' when the teams last played back in February against Bell by a conclusive 9-1 score. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
