The San Jacinto Tigers struggled with threes on Thursday (the Moreno Valley Vikings had five more) and sadly the final score reflected it. San Jacinto wound up with the same score they had in their last game (56-47), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They lost against Moreno Valley in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 82-47 score last time.
Despite the loss, San Jacinto still got an impressive performance from Stephen Castleberry, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Castleberry scored a full 40.4% of San Jacinto's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Omar Garcia was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
Moreno Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamall Thompson out in front who scored 14 points. The matchup was Thompson's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Hayes, who scored nine points.
San Jacinto now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Moreno Valley, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
San Jacinto will head out on the road to face off against Tahquitz at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Tahquitz has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. Moreno Valley will be home for the holidays to greet Arroyo Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Arroyo Valley is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
