Basketball Recap: Anthem Prep Comes Up Short

Anthem Prep has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 26.43 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 58-15 loss at the hands of the Rancho Solano Prep Mustangs. The matchup marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Anthem Prep still got an impressive performance from Madi Hatfield, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. Hatfield is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last three games she's played.

Nenah Brown continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rancho Solano Prep, going 10 of 15 on her way to 20 points in addition to five boards and three steals. That's the most points Brown has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Payne, who posted six points along with seven boards and five steals.

Anthem Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Rancho Solano Prep, they pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Anthem Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 36-23 victory against Antelope on the 9th. As for Rancho Solano Prep, they will challenge Phoenix Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Phoenix Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
