The Washington Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Elgin Owls at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Washington 2.4, Elgin 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Washington gave up the first runs last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 4-1 win over Sulphur. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Owen Andrews spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Washington saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Brady, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Elgin waltzed into their match on Tuesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They put the hurt on the Wolverines with a sharp 15-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Owls, who have now won 14 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Brody Morrison was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ritson Meyer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Elgin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in three consecutive games.
Elgin pushed their record up to 16-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Washington, their record is now 11-4.
