Baseball Recap: Heritage Academy Triumphs

Heritage Academy's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over Mount Airy Christian Academy. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2019.

Caleb Wise and Ryan Hollinger were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Wise struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Hollinger tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Wise also tossed a walk, which is notable because Heritage Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-4 otherwise. At the plate, Wise went 2-for-4 with two runs, while Hollinger went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aden Cole, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Heritage Academy is 3-1 when Cole posts two or more runs, but 1-4 otherwise.

Heritage Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Mount Airy Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-3-1 record this season.

Heritage Academy will take on Calvary Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Heritage Academy is facing Calvary Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Calvary Christian Academy is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Mount Airy Christian Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Rockbridge Academy at 3:30 p.m. Mount Airy Christian Academy's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Scots have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
