Make it eight blowout wins for the Baldwin Braves this season. They claimed a resounding 63-33 win over Washington County on the road. The victory was familiar territory for Baldwin who now have seven in a row.
Baldwin's win on Saturday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Janaye Walker, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Walker has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Ruff, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals.
Washington County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kandace Burden, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Aeria Hagans, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Baldwin pushed their record up to 11-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Washington County, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6.
Baldwin and West Laurens will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully West Laurens focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday. As for Washington County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Westside at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Westside comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
