The Rio Grande City Rattlers will take on the United Longhorns at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, Rio Grande City was able to grind out a solid win over McAllen, taking the game 39-27.
United has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 30 points or more this season. They really took it to Nixon for the full four quarters, racking up a 83-48 victory at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-16.
Jesslynn Jalomo continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 30 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. The match was her seventh in a row with at least ten points. Cristan Rodriguez was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 steals.
Rio Grande City has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 5-3 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for United, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Rio Grande City came up short against United when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 55-50. Can Rio Grande City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
