Baseball Recap: Lake Region Sets Scoring Season-High Against Ridge Community

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Region). They put the hurt on the Ridge Community Bolts with a sharp 21-9 victory on Monday. The Thunder might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Jehiel Gomez was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four runs, five RBI, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Lake Region's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 5-8 when he doesn't). Dan Colon was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Lake Region was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .529. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win was the third in a row for Lake Region, bringing their record up to 8-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Ridge Community, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-9.

Looking ahead, Lake Region will square off against Lakeland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ridge Community, they will face off against Haines City at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
